Overview Tools Inspector Main Plot Window Menus

Edit Menu The Edit menu lets you manipulate drawing objects in the main plot window. The Edit menu contains standard Cut, Copy, Paste, and Delete commands. These work within LXFree and between LXFree and other applications. To import an entire graphic file into LXFree, select the file in the Finder and choose Copy. Then, switch to LXFree and choose Paste. This works with file types recognized by the operating system such as pdf, tiff, jpg, etc. When copying and pasting within LXFree, the Paste command offsets copies of objects by the distance set in the Inspector's Tools tab. The Select sub-menu controls the selection of objects. Select->Next/Previous Object selects the next or previous object according to the drawing order. Note: the Auto Arrange command can help make the select next/previous commands more useful. Select->Similar Info Fields selects all the info fields that match the data type of the selected field (for example, all 'channel' fields). Select->Position's Lights adds all the lights associated with any selected positions to the list of selected objects. Select->Connected Lines selects all lines that connect to the start and ends of the selected line. The Move command allows you to offset selected objects by the distance specified in the Inspector's Tools tab. Items in the Make sub-menu allow you to create copies of selected objects in various ways. These commands are also available in the Inspector's Tools tab and are described in that section of help. Components are reusable drawing units made up of regular graphic objects. Components are stored in library files. The graphic objects in a component can be added to a drawing by selecting them from the Insert Component menu. There are both built-in and user libraries of components. User components are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/com.claudeheintzdesign.lxseries/components. The Manage Components menu gives control over components in the user component library so that you don't have to deal with the files directly. You can save any selected objects in the current drawing as a component by using the Save Component... command. You can also delete or rename components stored in the user library. |
