Issue creating stage curve

Postby bartolo1314 » Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:00 am

Is there a way to add a control point to a curved line? I am having trouble creating a multi curved front of stage. I have extrapolated points at 8' and 16' off of center both right and left as well as a point off the proscenium both right and left but am unable to get these points to meet with the curve tool. Any advice would be appreciated. thank you.

You can link two separate curves created with the curve tool into a path. You can do this with multiple segments which are added to a new path in the order they are selected. Assuming that you have curve "A" and curve "B", first you want to use the measurements tab of the inspector to check/set the end point of "A" to be the same as the start point of "B". Then select "A" followed by "B". (To add to the selection of objects, hold down the shift key when clicking). Choose Format->Convert->Selection to Path. This will replace the two individual curves with a path that includes them both. Use Format->Transform->Reshape Path to allow editing of the control points of your path. The control points are also listed in the Inspector's Measurements tab.

The latest build of LXBeams adds a Format->Transform->Add to Path... command which allows extending a path by adding either a curveTo or LineTo segment at the end. You could start with a curve drawn by the curve tool and add more curve segments, each with its own control points, using this new command.
