Using licensed LXPlan on Win11. When creating a light, there are X and Y fields for both the beam and field. I have oval lenses 16° by 9° (field 27.8° x 16.2°, beam 15.9° x 9.2°).
Can this be rendered as oval? It seems either the X or the Y is ignored.

Re: Rendering an oval lense
An oval beam can be simulated.
Select the light you want to render.
In the Inspector's Info table, right-click "Rendering" and choose Edit from the popup menu.
In the options dialog, check the Template/Mask button.
Click "OK"
The rendered beam will then simulate the oval.
With the light selected, choose "View->Beam Controls" to use the "Axis" slider to chage the rotation of the oval.

The "Axis" slider is grayed out and not adjustable. Should there be anything else in the "Rendering" fields?
Re: Rendering an oval lens
If the fixture properties have beamX and beamY included and a drawn symbol of that type is selected, you should have the ability to set the axis. You can also look in the properties table of the Inspector's info tab to confirm if the fixture has a "Beam Axis" property.
The only rendering option that nees to be set to simulate oval beams is the "Template/Mask" checkbox. The other options above that are about simulating shutters. The "Less Strict Shadow" option can help with removing rendering artifacts when the light strikes an object in the rendering at a very acute angle.

Re: Rendering an oval lens
So, it is rendering the plot view, but not in the "Render" window. The only difference between the two lights shown is the axis the I put the lens dimensions in.

Re: Rendering an oval lens
Can you email a copy of this plot so I can see what is going on?
Re: Rendering an oval lens
It may be that this is due to an issue with an automated/color mixing fixture with an oval beam. You can try the latest version of LXPlan and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Rendering an oval lens
Problem solved! Had the wrong fixture type selected. That, and installing the latest version fixed it!
