X,Y,Z in side- and front-view

Postby Pierre Daubigny » Sun Sep 26, 2021 12:23 pm

Hi there !

I have downloaded LX Plan after using LX Free for several years.
Here is a problem I'd like to report :
when designing booms using the "map to vertical" function, it appears their coordinates get mixed up :
- on front view Y becomes Z
- on side view X becomes Z
So my booms have a very strange appearance !
Is there a way to fix it ?

All the best,

Pierre

Position mapping in LXPlan appears to be working correctly. The "Map to Vertical" function is a shortcut that will automatically fill in a positions mapping fields. How this works is that the both ends of the line are mapped to the (x,y) coordinates of the end of the position line in plan view. So, if you look at the Inspector's info table with the position that was mapped to vertical selected, the "Map Start X" and "Map End X" will both show the x coordinate of the end of the position line. (You can switch to the Inspector's drawing tab and look in the properties table to see this.) Likewise, the "Map Start Y" and "Map End Y" will both show the y coordinate of the end of the position line. If your position was drawn in an opposite direction, and you want to stand it up on the start point instead, you would use Format->Transform->Reverse Path to switch the start ans end points prior to using "Map to Vertical". The "Map Start Z" property is set to the height of the position when you invoke "Map to Vertical". The "Map End Z" property is set to zero. Any lights that intersect the position line have their location shown in section view proportionately relative to when the symbol intersects the line in plan view. In other words, that point of plan view intersection is mapped into the third dimension relative to where the start/end points of the position are mapped. Once the intersection is mapped, the light's individual 3D offsets are then applied. If the light is set to hang below a position, it will be moved down when mapped in section view as well.

If you wish, you can e-mail the plot you are having trouble with and it can be checked to verify that the behavior is correct as described above. If you do, please include which position is the problem and how you expect it to appear in section view.

This should be fixed in build 15320.1 for Windows.

(Not sure how the error got introduced, but it is better now.)
