Change default Info Field locations

Postby RatherQuaint » Thu Sep 11, 2025 6:01 pm

Hello! New here!

Trying to change the default locations of the Info Fields for fixtures (address, channel, etc), but every time these fields are turned off in the Info Inspector tab and then turned back on, the fields revert to their software default location.

We don't want to send all information to all clients and hirers, so it would be great if we could change this and set the defaults per fixture (or fixture group, as we will want the Info Fields in different places for different fixtures).

Is this possible? If yes, could someone guide me on how to do it?

Many thanks,

Deciding on the best default location of info fields is tricky. There are many situations that would call for the default location to be in a different place than what might make sense for other orientations of symbol/intersecting position line.

LXSeries allows you to quickly clean up field locations across a selection of symbols. This turns out to be more efficient than constantly editing default locations. The way this works is as follows:

1) Arrange the info fields for one light the way you want them.

2) Select Format->Info Fields->Copy Field Locations. (Command-option-c)

3) Select the other lights that you want to make the field locations similar.

4) Select Format->Info Fields->Paste Field Locations. (Command-option-v)

LXBeams (with a valid license) allows you to edit the angle and offset of the initial placement of info fields using the Setup->Data Fields command. The relevant columns of the light fields table are Inner, Angle, and Distance. Angle is relative to the rotation of the symbol. Inner determines if the Distance is based on the center or outside of the symbol's bounding rectangle.
