First launch with Enttec DMX USB Pro MK 2

Postby lumiere » Wed May 18, 2022 10:52 am

Hi,

I'm now in a theater, trying to run LX Console with the Enttec DMX USB Pro MK 2 interface.

Strangely, It worked 1 time today (I've been able to control my lights in the theater) but now it doesnt works anymore.
LX Console showed a message saying the Enttec MK 2 wasn't running properly so I've relauched LX Console and now nothing works.

I'm using Mac 10.14.6

LX Console 6.0.7 (16814.1)

I've tried to install D2XX but it's too complicated for me in the terminal!

Here are my settings in LX Console (see attachments) :

On the second pannel, where Missing connection is, it once showed some number, the time it worked...

Any idea ?

Update :

I've restarted everything and after some new launches, it now workes again, but not in a stable way. Its absoluty not reliable. LX showed me again the message 'Cannot confirm USB Mk2'. (See attachments).

What shall I do to make it run properly ?

Maybe someone can help me with installing this D2XX. - If thats the key to my problem ?
The procedure in the terminal is obscure to me :geek: : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir2PVz1 ... annel=FTDI

There is now way to simply move the files to the right Mac OS library folder ?

The ENTTEC Mk2 should work with the Apple FTDI driver. You shouldn't need d2xx. Although with older operating systems d2xx was more reliable than the Apple driver, it is a hassle to install. You need to install the driver in /usr/lib/local and also install FTDI's D2XX Helper to prevent a conflict with the Apple driver. In general, using the Apple driver is simpler and easier because there's no separate install required.

Always make sure that the widget is plugged into the computer and no other programs are accessing it before starting LXConsole. If the serial port is occupied by another program, LXConsole will not be able to talk to the widget. If you need to plug/unplug while LXConsole is open, use File->External->Plug/Unplug Widget to reset the serial connection. Errors will show up in the messages window or the log file (/Users/[name]/Library/Application Support/com.claudeheintzdesign.lxseries/logs/lxconsole.log).

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem. i didn't install the D2xx drivers but even with the usbserial port i can't get any dmx signal out of lxconsole into my lamps.
lxconsole keeps saying it can't confirm DMX USB MK2.

any suggestions?

i can run the single universe enttec box without issues, but i'd like to be able to use the MK2.

When set to use "mk2", LXConsole sends a message to confirm that the box is indeed a mk2. If it does not receive the answer it expects you will see the alert telling you so. You can go ahead and use the mk2 api anyway. It won't matter if you are only using the first universe if it is set to mk2 or the original Pro. They both use the same protocol for the first universe. So, there is no practical difference in which API you choose for a single universe. If you want to use the second universe, you can do that even if you get the alert. LXConsole will attempt to send the second universe if you select mk2 even if it can't confirm that your box responds to the api query.

You might try clicking the widget info button in the Preferences' DMX Info tab to see if it returns information about both ports of the mk2. You should have the widget connected to the computer and all other software that you've used with the widget should be quit before starting LXConsole.
