Ad a channel

Postby Tizor » Sun Mar 23, 2025 6:46 pm

Hello all !!!

I think it's my first question on LXBeam here and it's an easy one. I simply want to know how to add a channel.
I'm serious. I don't know how to add a channel.

When I know i will have to add channels before i send it to LXConsole display configuration, I keep a page open that contains all of the 512 DMX addresses so I can copy the ones I need. But sometimes obviously, it would be faster if I have just one channel to add

Thanks a lot for your help !

In LXBeams, set the mode of the text tool to "Channel"

Draw your channel.

Set the text of the text field to the channel number.

With the channel field selected, look in the Inspector's info table.

Set the channel property of the channel text field to the channel number.

Check the display box to display the channel's level.

----
The text of the field and the channel property must match or instead of a channel box, a label will be exported from LXBeams.

The channel field of the label is interpreted as a command. You could have a channel text field with the text "FOH Out" and the channel property set to "1>10@0". When this is imported into LXConsole, clicking "FOH Out" will be the same as entering 1>10@00 in the command line.
----
LXBeams Version 6.6.8 (21531.1) --which is today's latest build-- is a little more forgiving. It will export a channel box anytime a channel text field's channel property is an integer. When the channel box is exported, the channel text field's text is ignored. Because commands are not simple integer channel numbers, a channel text field can still be exported as a label with a command attached as outlined above.
