Simple but obvious: Make sure that the main window is the front window when trying to save the file. If it is not and that is the issue, just post which window was the front and had the problem. You should be able to use File->"Save a Copy..." only when the main window is front and active.

LXBeams uses the MacOS system settings for treatment of numbers. So, it is surprising that it doesn't adapt automatically to local formatting of numbers.
