LXPlan is an application for drawing light plots and generating paperwork. LXPlan combines drawing a light plot with editing information attached to graphic objects in the drawing. LXPlan produces reports by linking the graphics, attached data, and additional databases related to the properties of these objects.
Java(tm) is a programming language and software platform that allows the same application to run on different operating systems. LXPlan uses the same basic design framework as LXBeams running on MacOS. Although LXPlan is a separate application, it can open and save the same cross-platform, XML based, files as LXSeries applications for Apple systems.
LXPlan is still being developed and tested. Please help by providing feedback on problems encountered using LXPlan.
LXPlan is currently available for Windows and Linux. The Linux version comes with an install script for Debian/Ubuntu. LXPlan will also function on other Linux versions that have Java installed. Notes:
LXPlan reads and saves ".lxxplot" files. There are some considerations when moving a file to and from other platforms and LXPlan. For compatibility across operating systems, imported graphics are stored in JPEG or PNG format in LXX files. Fonts vary across operating systems and may change when moving a file from one to another.
LXPlan on Windows stores report templates and key files in the C:\Program Files\LXSeries4Windows folder. You can use library files created for LXBeams with LXPlan.
Important: On Windows, you may be required to use Add or Remove Programs to uninstall LXPlan before you attempt to install an update.
