The Options window contains controls that set user preferences for LXPlan.
Options are stored in a .properties file in a user directory. This folder is also where the user library files are usually located.
The Windows version of LXPlan stores user options in a folder called "LXSeries4Windows" that is found in the user's "Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data" folder (which is usually hidden).
The Linux version of LXPlan stores user options in the user's home folder which contains a ".lxseries4linux" folder (the dot before the name means that it is hidden on Linux).
LXPlan allows you to use the scroll wheel of the mouse to zoom the plot in and out. Selecting Mouse Wheel Always Zooms causes this to be the function of the wheel. Without this option, the wheel is used to scroll the window vertically. However, if you hold down the alt key while using the wheel, the function will change to zooming.
LXPlan can automatically check for newer released versions. Or, you can manually check for a newer version by clicking the Check Now button.
LXPlan Extended Features are enhanced functions that are only available for testing at the present time. Extended Features are considered to be "beta" and may not work completely or correctly. The Extended Features included in this version will only be available while it is being actively tested. Access to Extended Features may require a paid license in future versions.
LXPlan has a library of "gel" colors. This color library can be used to automatically set the color of symbols when you enter a "gel" name. By default automatic coloring sets a symbol's fill color. However, the "Automatic" options also allow you to set the stroke color or to turn automatic coloring off. (Colors can be temporarily turned off for printing using the "Draw Symbols in B&W" command from the View menu.)
Info fields displayed on the plot are required to have a common font and style based on the field they represent. It is also possible to use color to help define their meaning. The Set stroke color of info fields option will set the color of all similar info fields when the color of a single field is changed.
Disable Automatic Unit Number Display inhibits the default action that displays the unit number field of a symbol when its value is set by the auto-number function.
Imported graphics are stored in one of two formats. The default JPEG format takes up less space. However, it is also possible to store graphics in PNG format which will cause bigger file sizes but will possibly result in better quality reproduction.
The Format->Insert->Key Block command adds an automatically generated key block to the plot. This key block consists of rows of symbols that have been used in the plot that are labeled and grouped together. (You can use the Ungroup command the separate a generated key block into its individual components). The Rows in Key Block option determines how the symbols are arranged when the key block is generated.
The paths to the application and user library folders can be set to locations other than the defaults.
The File->Export->Image File command saves the plot as a graphic file in one of a number of formats. The formats available are determined by those supported by the operating system.
PDF export now uses the open source Apache PDFBox library. Styled text areas are always pre-rendered with PDFBox export.
The File->Export->Share on Network command makes the plot available over a network http connection. The port number used in the URL can be set to a port higher that 1024 or can be selected by the operating system.
