LXFree for Java is an application for drawing light plots and generating paperwork. LXFree for Java combines drawing a light plot with editing information attached to graphic objects in the drawing. LXFree for Java produces reports by linking the graphics, attached data, and additional databases related to the properties of these objects.
Java(tm) is a programming language and software platform that allows the same application to run on different operating systems. LXFree for Java uses the same LXFoundation design framework as LXFree running on Macintosh OS-X but, it is a separate application.
LXFree for Java is still being developed and tested. Please help by providing feedback on problems encountered using LXFree for Java.
LXFree for Java is currently available for Windows (XP,Vista,7) and Linux. The Linux version comes with an install script for Ubuntu although LXFree for Java will also function on other Linux versions that have Java installed. If you are interested in LXFree for Java for other operating systems that support Java(tm) please contact Claude Heintz Design.
Notes:
LXFree for Java reads and saves ".lxxplot" files. There are some considerations when moving a file to and from LXFree and LXFree for Java. For compatability across operating systems, imported graphics are stored in JPEG or PNG format in LXX files. Fonts vary across operating systems and may change when moving a file from one to another.
LXFree for Java on Windows stores report templates and key files in the C:\Program Files\LXSeries4Windows folder. You can use key files created for LXFree with LXFree for Java. At this time, you can use some--but not all .lxxreport files.
Important: On Windows, you must run Add or Remove Programs to uninstall LXFree for Java before you attempt to install an update.
